ABOUT US

Our Closing Day - Sept 2024
Rooted in Purpose. Grown with Passion.
At Bivins Family Vineyards, we believe in the power of wine to bring people together — and the power of farming to heal, restore, and inspire.
We are a Black and veteran-owned vineyard located in Chatham, Virginia, just 30 minutes from the new Cesar’s casino and nestled in the heart of southern Virginia wine country. Our journey began with a dream to cultivate not just grapes, but meaningful experiences — for our family, our community, and fellow veterans.

1st Project - winter 2024 fertilizing
Built by Hand. Led by Heart.
Founded by Danielle and Brion Bivins, our vineyard is more than rows of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Muscat Blanc, and Traminette. It’s a place where hard work meets heart work.
The vineyard itself was lovingly established over a decade ago by a husband-and-wife team who thoughtfully scouted the land and planted the first blocks of Cabernet and Traminette. Over time, they expanded with Petit Verdot and Muscat Blanc — laying the groundwork for the thriving vines we care for today.
In September 2024, we purchased the vineyard with deep respect for its roots and a bold vision for its future. Brion came home after 20 years of military service to build something lasting. Danielle stepped away from her corporate career to reconnect with the land, pursue her winemaking certification, and launch a new chapter rooted in purpose.
In 2025, we entered our first full growing season — documenting every moment as we learn, grow, and share the vineyard journey. Whether you’re sipping wine, volunteering at harvest, or just following along online, we’re glad you’re here.

Our journey
We Grow More Than Grapes.
Our vineyard is built on more than soil and sun. We grow connection, courage, and community — with every row, every season, and every bottle still to come.
We’re new to farming — and that’s exactly what makes this journey so meaningful. This vineyard is not just about grapes or wine; it’s about building something together, from the ground up.
It’s our opportunity to work side by side, to learn as we grow, and to bring our family — near and far — into something real, tangible, and deeply rooted. Through hard work, perseverance, and purpose, we’re creating more than a harvest… we’re cultivating a legacy.
This land is teaching us what it means to grow something beautiful, together.
